Flower Power: What's Blooming in the Indoor Garden

Pierre, hard at work...
I've been less chatty than usual on the Seven Oaks blog.  I was up against a deadline to get my new book, The Tripartite Marketing System, to the publishers by March 1.  I decided to cram, like I was back in school, and I wrote almost nonstop this weekend but got the book uploaded yesterday. Now I await the proof and then off it goes!   I'm also having a bit of trouble typing. I managed to fall not once but twice this weekend. The first time was on Saturday. I leashed Shadow up and decided to walk back through our woods to my favorite spot, a big old birch tree that leans over the creek. There's a natural sort of seat formed where the trunks of the trees meet and I love sitting next to the creek and listening to the birds and the burble of the water over a small little waterfall formed by the shale.  Well, as I stepped down the hillside and off onto the garden path, my sneakers slid on the thick layer of pine needles and I fell splat on my tailbone.  Shadow immediately began licking my face to get me up but I'd knocked all the breath right out of my body.  Nothing like foul dog breath in your face to get you moving quickly though.  Yesterday evening was the second fall. I took Shadow out for her late night potty break and as we stepped into the same spot,  we must have startled several animals off of the compost pile.  I don't know what was there since it was too dark to see, but I heard them - many 'thems' with scrabbling claws on the stone wall around the pile - and Shadow lunged.  Too late, I pulled her back, but not before she pulled me around and wrenched my arm and back, as well as the knee that I have trouble with.  I am grateful today for hot showers, Advil, and patience.

So given all this I decided not to write too much but walk around the house with my camera and snap some photos of the plant activity indoors. I was actually surprised when I counted up the blooms; I've got more blooming in my indoor garden than I thought!  Please enjoy this little taste of spring; there's nothing like some blossoms to cheer you up in February.

Missouri Primrose made its appearance this weekend.

Big geranium blooming in my plant room

Love this violet! Grew it from a leaf from my sister's plant, so every time I see it I think of her.

Orchid in my office. My other sister grows orchids, so I think of that sis when I see my orchid.

I think you need to curl up with Pierre and heal your bones... Yikes, that sound in the night would freak me out...
